The DLSU Green Archers lost in a nailbiter on Wednesday’s bout against the formerly winless UE Red Warriors at the Mall of Asia Arena.

It was a close battle in the first quarter, until the Red Warriors opened up a 37-48 halftime lead, against the Green Archers. They kept the Archers at bay for the third quarter, until the DLSU veteran core of Aljun Melecio, Andrei Caracut, and Justine Baltazar led the 4th quarter comeback. The team was capped by an Encho Serrano layup and a free throw that gave the Archers an 83-81 lead with a minute left in the final quarter. UE and DLSU exchanged clutch baskets in the final minute, until Rey Suerte nailed the game-winning 3-pointer, giving UE an 89-88 lead.

Key contributors for the Green-and-White were the aforementioned veteran core of Baltazar (21 points), Melecio (21 points), and Caracut (16 points, 6 assists). The next game for DLSU, now at a 1-2 standing, is set against the FEU Tamaraws at Wednesday 4:00 PM at the Mall of Asia Arena.
