The DLSU Green Archers failed to tarnish the Ateneo Blue Eagles’ spotless record, yielding to them 77-69, in their Round 2 matchup at the Mall of Asia Arena on the 13th of October 2019.
ADMU opened up the game with 8 quick points from Adrian Wong, followed by a DLSU flurry that gave the Taft-based squad a 12-8 lead. The defending champions, however, unleashed a 10-3 run to end the first quarter, giving themselves a 18-15 lead they would never give up for the rest of the game. The Blue Eagles put up as much as a 12-point lead during some points, but DLSU kept it close for the entire game, the closest being 5, during the waning minutes of the third quarter, at 50-55.
Encho Serrano led the Green-and-White with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Justine Baltazar chipped in 12 markers and 9 rebounds, while one-and-done star Jamie Malonzo had another double-double with 10 points and 12 boards.
DLSU is now 4-5 in team standings, one game behind the FEU Tamaraws (5-5) for the 4th seed. The next game for DLSU is set on October 16, 2019 (Wed) against the 3-7 UE Red Warriors, currently 7th in team standings.
