Last Saturday, October 24, 2020, the 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines Inc. (YFPH) closed its week-long hackathon, INAYAB Labs, for its biggest annual event, the SDG Bayanihan Summit (SBS).
The SDG Bayanihan Summit (SBS) 2020 successfully executed its two-week leg of INAYAB Labs virtually, holding a pre-hackathon training for the youth delegates in the first week, and the actual hackathon the following week. In hopes of accelerating the achievement of sustainable solutions, SBS gathered its wide range of advocates and partners nationwide, as well as hundreds of youth delegates, who were given the opportunity to formulate and present innovative projects that are in line with the Global Goals.
The youth delegates who were distributed under the four pillars of the Sustainable Development
Goals: People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace, were guided by different mentors and were provided with the opportunity to pitch their initial projects. During its closing ceremony, SBS showcased the group of delegates who had won and provided the best projects for the hackathon, and invited panelists who are known for forwarding advocacies in today’s media. They also celebrated the fourth founding anniversary of YFPH.
Given the current conditions, it is undeniable that projects such as SBS significantly impact and help empower the youth, and provide them with hope that there are still many ways to create a better future for the world. Now that the youth delegates have successfully showcased their initiatives, we are now one step closer to achieving the Global Goals, which aims to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, achieve prosperity, and ensure peaceful and just societies by the year 2030.
