Lasallian Youth Orchestra: Quaran-Tunes and the new frontier of E-performances

In the beginning of March 2021, Lasallian Youth Orchestra (LYO) opened to the public their first iteration of a brand new production project called “Quaran-Tunes”, that aimed to provide its audience comfort and pause in the daily grind of the online setting through musical performances.

“Quaran-Tunes” is a three-episode production that features musicians by section of the traditional orchestra set-up, namely these were: Winds, Strings, and Rhythms. Some of these episodes were accompanied by other Culture and Arts Groups of DLSU that helped provide more depth and variety to each episode.

Behind the scenes, each of the musicians powered through weekly online rehearsals. They continued to persevere despite not being able to practice in more conductive areas of music, and to which back and forth feedback is given through - and to some extent - limited to the digital tutelage. What is truly amazing about this project was the coordination of their teams to produce such a cohesive production despite the limitations most are facing, and that their base communication stems from the musicians continuing passion to their artform and to share it as much as possible.

Given this, their passion for the Arts extends the usual want of performing, but also to provide as much to society through their practiced talents. Quaran-Tunes lends a hand to be a fundraising event to the Artists’ Welfare Project Inc. (AWPI), a SEC-certified NGO that gathers and provides support to aspiring Filipino student artists. In the span of their four-month run, Quaran-Tunes earned by the end of their last episode (June 18) a sum of Php 26,989.99, all attributed to both the help of their audience and sponsors who had joined them in this endeavor.

LYO continues to thrive despite their circumstances and continue to meld their musical passion for God and Country, so kudos to their instrument playing members and their administrative members for another success in their first production for the year!

Soon, the Lasallian Youth Orchestra will be revealing their next project. So to the audience - stay tuned and look forward to what else LYO has to offer to you next!
