In an age of increasing political tension and uncertainty, the youth must be more involved and informed in order to help move the Philippines forward to a brighter future. Such is the goal of UA&P KASANGA’s latest event: Kamalayan – an online conference that aims to raise political and social awareness among the Filipino youth.
Kamalayan will be divided into two segments, with each segment to be headlined by two prominent figures in Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas and Atty. Chel Diokno. The first segment, “Student Action and Red Tagging: The Importance of Voicing Out the Opinions of the Youth”, will be led by Atty. Chel Diokno. On the other hand, Mayor Jerry Treñas will speak about the latter segment, “Progression amidst the Pandemic: Iloilo City’s Fight against COVID-19”. Though seemingly different, both segments combine to reinforce the entire purpose of Kamalayan, which is to inspire and encourage the younger generation to participate in political and socio-civic affairs. Informing the youth of the Philippines’s current political and social aspects is imperative as the youth is the key that will unlock the future of our nation.
The event will be held on February 17, 2021 via Zoom from 3:35 – 5:45 PM. If you are interested in learning more about Kamalayan, its speakers, or its purpose, head over to UA&P KASANGGA’s Facebook page for more details and updates.
